world aids day (a little late)
okay, i know world aids day was a few days ago. but considering that i'm not sure i knew it even existed prior to this year, i'll just be glad to post on it late rather than never.
first, i will admit my grand ignorance to te whole situation. yes, like most, i know aids is a major tragedy and that it is killing many each year, causing people much suffering, and leaving orphans around the world. i know that it is especially ravaging africa.
but i guess that, for me, it's one of those things that becomes so overwhelming to think about, one of those things that makes me feel helpless and unable to do anything positive about it, that i try to keep it far from my mind most of the time.
all that said, i'd like to direct you to a site for a moment. by clicking here, you have the chance to light a virtual candle, and in doing so, have a dollar donated towards the treatment of those with aids. ("For every candle lit, Bristol-Myers Squibb will donate $1 up to $100,000 to the National AIDS fund.")
so go light a candle (and you can learn more on the site as well).
